About the event
The most competitive night of Italian cooking in New York.
Chef Gianluca Deiana opens the evening with a glass of Prosecco and a hands-on lesson: fresh egg pasta rolled and cut by hand, and a true Genovese pesto made from scratch. Then the kitchen becomes an arena.
How the Cook-Off works
1. Two teams. The group splits into two teams, and each team chooses one of its members to sit on the jury.
2. The challenge. Against the clock, every team cooks and plates its own version of the dish.
3. The verdict. The two team judges score every plate on taste, technique and presentation. Team judges can be a little partial, so the final word belongs to the chef, who watches both teams at work all evening and weighs everything he sees. The result is always fair.
